A Morning in Seongsu: A 5-Minute Dewy Skin Routine for Seoul Summer
Seongsu is a good reminder that “dewy” does not have to mean ten layers of skincare.
On a warm Seoul morning, the better routine is often the one you can finish before your coffee gets cold: enough hydration to keep skin comfortable, sunscreen you will actually wear, and no unnecessary layers competing with your makeup.
This is the Glowyk version of a Seongsu summer morning—simple, flexible, and built for real life.
8:10 A.M. — Start With What Your Skin Actually Needs
If you wake up oily or sweaty, use a gentle cleanser. If your skin already feels comfortable, a quick rinse may be enough. The goal is not to make skin feel squeaky-clean before adding moisture back.
Pat dry, then check how your skin feels before automatically reaching for five bottles.
8:12 A.M. — Pick One Hydrating Layer
A watery toner, essence, or lightweight serum can all fill the same basic role: adding a comfortable layer of hydration before cream or sunscreen.
You do not need all three just because they exist. If one layer leaves your skin soft and comfortable, stop there.
If your skin feels tight, add a light moisturizer. If it already feels balanced, move on.
8:14 A.M. — Sunscreen Is the Non-Negotiable Finish
Finish your morning skincare with a dedicated sunscreen and use it according to the directions on the label. Give it a moment to settle before makeup so your next layer is not sliding around on a wet base.
For humid mornings, the best formula is usually the one you enjoy wearing enough to apply properly—not necessarily the one with the longest ingredient list.

8:17 A.M. — Makeup, But Only Where You Want It
Instead of rebuilding a full-coverage base, try spot concealer, cushion foundation only where needed, brows, and lip color. Let healthy-looking skin texture stay visible.
This is where a lighter skincare base pays off: less slipping, less pilling, and less temptation to keep adding powder as the day gets warmer.
What We Would Skip
- Stacking products just to hit a step count. More layers are not automatically better.
- Treating refrigerated toner pads as essential. Cooling can feel pleasant, but it is not a requirement for a good routine.
- Chasing instant “glass skin.” Comfortable, well-moisturized skin usually looks better than a deliberately glossy surface.
- Adding every trending ingredient at once. If your routine already works, you do not need to rebuild it around the newest launch.
The 5-Minute Version
- Cleanse or rinse as needed.
- Use one hydrating layer.
- Add moisturizer only if your skin wants it.
- Finish with sunscreen.
- Keep makeup light and targeted.
That is the Seongsu mood we like: polished, but not overworked.
